What's doing this to my garden?!

I would look for a size 10 trainer print, that's a lot of damage for cats or foxes.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Something or someone has been playing or maybe fighting.  How disheartening for you image

  • Mondegreen how awful for you, sorry can't really help but just wondering if you're close to the pavement then maybe it could have been kids( naughty ones) mucking about. Can't see it being an animal, we live near fields and woodlands with lots of wildlife but thankfully have never seen anything like that in our garden.

  • Got  back from work and had another check for prints etc., but nothing I'm afraid. I'm inclined to think it was animals not people for a number of reasons. Whatever it was accessed from a very narrow gap between the shed and the fence (I know because the trellis covering the gap had been broken) which I can just about squeeze through if I breathe in, but it's not exactly easy. There is a much easier entrance round the back of the shed, that any human would prefer to go through. Also not to channel Poirot too much, but I'm not sure why people would shuffle round in the dark and snap off bits of parsley, clematis and rosemary, steal some mildewy sweet peas, and stand on some rudbeckia. Scaling the fences next to the beds would put you in my neighbour's garden, but he and I share the steps leading down into the gardens, so if you wanted to get into his garden it would simply be a matter of walking 5 metres to the foot of those steps and...walking into his garden. Anyway, long story short, it all seems a bit random.

I've redone the wire part of the fence this evening, and tried to reinforce some other areas so we'll just have to see what happens. I'm very tempted to sit and watch for hours and hours but I have work tomorrow so I'll just have to cross my fingers! Thanks for all your help!
