Contorted willow

Hi. Could I move this contorted willow now which seems to have out grown where it is?

In theory anything can be moved. However it is very large and will have a huge root ball. If you are going to move it, Oct / Nov would be a good time.

It will need lots of water for the first 2 years after moving.

IMO, although I am sure others will not agree, it has a high chance of death.

  • Oh no .. Thank you for that

  • I would take cuttings - they'll strike easily in damp soil - then when your original tree has to be taken down, you'll have more to replace it with. image

Good idea to do cuttings. A lot of these are grafted and end up suckering non twisted shoots. On its own roots it won't do that. I'd do hard wood cuttings at leaf fall
