Grubs
I have found in some of my garden tubs big fat c shaped grey grubs! they look horrid. As yet I haven't seen any signs of my plants suffering any ill affects but i would like to know if they might cause a problem and if so what do I do about it is there something I should use to see them off, cheers

Hi Vickie - can you post us a photo please? at this time of year it could be some caterpillars looking for somewhere to pupate before turning into beautiful butterflies and moths ............. or it could be leatherjackets or other baddies.
We need to know which it is before advising on action
To post a photo you need to click on the green tree icon on the toolbar above where you type your post ...........

well I will have a go when i empty my other pots if there are any in them, the pots that I empted where dead bedding plants which because I didn't know what they were I put in the wild bit of the garden away from boards and other plants for the birds to munch on or for them to grow into whatever they wanted to grow into lol. don't want to harm what I don't know
They will probably turn into crane flies.
Possibly this - http://www.stagbeetles.co.uk/stagbeetlelarvae.htm
not been able to find any yet in my other pots but will take a photo if I do, looking at the pictures of the stag beetle larvae think you may have found the answer Typhoo, will keep my eye out! thank you guys
That's very exciting Vickie - there are other grubs which look similar but are a bit smaller - Stag beetle larvae are quite large and are usually found in rotten wood.
