Hi

Does anyone know what the plant is with the claret red flowers?

Many thanks

  • I would like to tag onto this thread and also ask for a plant ID!

Bees love the flowers. The plant smells a bit like cat wee, unfortunately image

NKirk I think that looks like Lychnis Coronaria.

  • The OP's plant is Rose Campion, Silene coronaria (used to be Lychnis).

Thirtybyseven, you would be better off starting a new thread - avoids confusion!

Thirtybyseven that could be Salvia Hotlios but not sure as I don't have that one.

Thanks - Rose Campion it is, nice plant, flowered all summer even in my clay soil

  • Hi Nkirk, your plant is Lycnis and Thirtyseven your plant is definately Salvia Hotlips. The Salvia is not totally hardy so I always take cuttings this time of year as a back up.

thirtyseven your own thread would have been better, just follow the instructions at the top where the bar starts with Latest discussions you will see on the other end New thread.
