I usually plant my seeds in pots outside late March or April. They are ready june or July to plant in ground . You can always tip one out first to make sure it has a good root structure. If it has, it's ready to go out into the world.
I had cosmos in a packet of mixed wild flowers they are all pink but while walking around the garden this afternoon I have chocolate cosmos which must have self sown . It pops up every year but in a different spot . I will follow you folks tips next year and use pots for some seeds to extend the season . Also try and collect seed from the chocolate one it is a rich colour and definitely smells like bournville .
