Dying Beech Tree

I have a 50 foot Beech tree at the bottom of the garden, its leaves are yellow with dark spots, there are a lot of dying branches and the leaves are falling at an alarming rate.  Any suggestions

  • I think you should take advice from a professional arboriculturist.  That's a big tree and it could do damage if it fell.

  • I would certainly second Dove's recommendation. Beech trees once they start to deteriorate can fall apart quite quickly [unlike Oak or Lime trees which can last a century or more in their dying] so I would get it checked promptly.

  • Thank you both I shall certainly take advice from a professional

  • I have an arboriculturist visiting next week to inspect a large ash tree in our garden - I think we'll be saying goodbye to it soon.  We'll be planting another native species nearby.

It would be interesting to hear how you get on. image
