Indoor Olive Tree

Hi,

I have an indoor 7ft olive tree planted into a large pot a few months ago. The upper branches are fine but the lower ones are losing their leaves. It appears that the new green growth shrivels up, turns brown and falls off. I give it a few kites of water once a week and it sits under a dome roof with plenty of light. Any ideas what I am doing wrong or do they just regularly lose their leaves?

Thanks,

CM

  • I think you're right Jo.  I'd have it outside in all but the hardest weather - as long as the potting medium is gritty and free-draining, and it's not watered in the winter they're fine outside in a sheltered spot.

They can cope with cold as long as their roots are not wet.

I would bubble-wrap the pot for the winter.

    Definitely better outside. Ditto Dove.

    As above.

    They are not indoor plants.
