Many thanks for the info nutcutlet, btw it originally from our neighbours and over grown over the fence and I was worried it might of been Japanese Knotweed!
I've pulled up 99% of it and half the lawn! The roots spread across the lawn for about 10 feet! Hopefully we've seen that last of it.I've now got to replace it with a nice shrub that flowers lovely and likes sun/shade. Hardy & bushy, any ideas?

It's a cornus but I don't know which species.
It's seen a lot in council plantings which is where my original cutting came from.
tbh I wish I'd never brought it in, for the reason you mention

Compared to JKW this one's no bother at all

if it's suckering I'd suggest, but only SUGGEST it might be cornus mas.
I googled Yellow dogwood and it's Cornus flaviramea. I don;'t think it's that or Cornus mas. It's something much more robust and a bit of a thug.
