Pulmonaria 'Roy Davidson' dying?

I have a Pulmonaria 'Roy Davidson' in the garden, only planted this year (a present from my mother in law) and up until very recently it has been growing well. I have noticed in the last few days the leaves are all starting to droop and today I have noticed a number of the lower leaves are going brown. Could anyone give me an idea of what maybe happening, as it is not a flower I have any knowledge of.

Although they have a reputation for doing well in dry shade, I find pulmonarias really benefit from being kept damp for the first couple of summers until they are well established.  A bucket full of water may well do the trick image

  • Thanks for the advice Dovefromabove. Will give it a good drenching this evening. Verdun I didn't think it was simply autumn starting because of the fact it was only the bottom leaves but we will see

  • The old lower leaves do die off - cut them off and clear them away to prevent rot setting in.

Mine are the same now, I just grab in one hand and chop all the leaves off, i did it last month and they have grown some fresh leaves, I am sure yours will come back fine next Spring.
