I have been growing ferns in pots for several years having seen how good they look when visiting the wonderful Millgate House garden in Richmond, North Yorkshire, which incidentally is an RHS partner garden. By growing them in pots you can dot them around the garden, or group them to good effect and fits lots more in! There are many different varieties, leaf shapes, etc and some will tolerate problems areas such as dry shade. I also have ferns growing in beds, especially in shady parts of my garden.
