on a recent visit to London we admired a plant in the garden of St James Park The gardners gave us a cutting and we can't remember what they said it was called The cutting is not thriving Can anyone help with the plant and how to save ? the leaves are purple

It looks like one of the aeoniums - possibly aeonium swartkof
Let the compost dry out a bit and put it somwhere where it gets bright light but not scorching sunlight. It'll need to be somewhere frost-free in the winter.

Sharp drainage for them June. Hope it recovers - they're striking plants with their glossy black fleshy leaves
