1year old seedlings for winter

i grew some cersis chenisis from seed last autumn in bedroom on windowsill and put in my garage end of spring in front of window for the rest of the year that gets afternoon sun
they are now around 20cm high and doing quite well with some 1.5 inch leaves. i have opened the window slightly so more exposed to the colder days etc and toughen up
would it be best to remove from the garage when winter arrives or will they be ok? will get some cold but avoiding the frost in garage. similar to a cold greenhouse maybe
thinking to just keep further away from window to not get too cold
?
