I would tip each one out of it's pot and see if it has masses of roots; in which case, plant on to a pot 2 to 4 cm larger. If the root system does not seem cramped, leave well alone unless the pots are very small.
I'm assuming the geranium is the hardy type, not a pelagonium.
Hostas don't like having their roots wet and then frozen in pots so make sure you keep the pots in a sheltered, frost free place once the leaves die down in autumn. I have loads both in the ground and in big plastic and ceramic pots. The pots go into dry shelter for winter and I've never lost one.
Good advice to pot on as the extra compost will be insulation.
What sort of Salvias are they? Not all Salvias are hardy.

Thanks for all advice. Salvia is a perrenial, "nemorosa caradonna". I also have bought a coreopsis. My main worry is frost, so i was wondering wether they would have to go on windowsill in garage. I bought all the plants in sale in Wyevale, seemed a shame to leave them there as they were half price.
thanks for all your replies. I will check them asap and pot on if needed. As they will be dormant through winter will multi purpose compost be ok?
