overgrown beds
I planted some perennial seedlings (and a couple of more mature plants, and donated tubers) earlier in the year to fill some gaps in my rather narrow flower beds and now they have grown rather big and have taken over a bit. What can i do to tidy things up? Should I cut any of these back now or should I wait until they start to die back in the autumn? I don't really want to get rid of anything at this stage. Problem plants include poppies, dahlia, love lies bleeding, erysimum, and lupins.

...coming.
Yes, those beds could really do with being quite a bit wider - then those plants would look fabulous

Can you see the massive dahlia at the end? It is all falling down and looks very messy. It is dragging the other plants around it down too. The poppies are looking very straggly. What can I do about this?
The beds look good but could do with some dead heading and stacking up especially the dahlias. The spotted laurel might be better later ina laarge pot along with some of the othe plants next season, We all make mistakes like this trying to fill up a bed . Well done , alot will not survive the winter so you will have a great time planning for next year, Good luck.
