Paul Temple has also been repeated on R4X (and a remake on R4) but I haven't heard of Dick Barton making a comeback.

  • Ramblers can be very rampant - you'd end up not able to see out of the window!  If you want a climber you will need to put in wires above the window to train it along.  Have a think about it though - the thorns can be lethal,. and there is nothing there in the winter.  Clematis might be more amenable - the spring flowering ones are wonderful as early as Februray.  You'd need to add loads of compost and give some water in a hot summer.

  • Thanks for that Gardenning granny and Nanny Beach. My upstairs neighbours have a thornless rambler in there garden over the back door to the rear gardens so I may go for that. My plan is to put a narrow length of trellis  along the top of the window and hanging out so it give a bit of a canopy. I'm not too worried about lack of light coming through the window as I often have the blind down as the sun comes through that window in the afternoon and shines on my kitchen cabinets and mean's It's difficult to watch my TV.

Oh and Jo47 don't worry I'm only 44 and never heard any of Dick Barton, Paul Temple or Journey into Space when they were first broadcast but have discovered them  listening to R4X...and could listen to them over & over again
