Can you identify this fruit?

hi all any ideas as to what this fruit is? My friends sent me this picture asking if I want any of the mystery fruit for jam.

    Agree, Pansyface.  Looks like an under-ripe sloe or damson, but it could be any number of things...  If it's a sloe it'll taste revolting, and if it's an under-ripe damson it'll be quite tart.

    Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

    Not spherical enough to be a sloe. Looks more plum-like.

  • Could it be a un-ripened sloe perhaps, or a greengage? certainly in the plumb family.
