Morning all. While I try not to use pesticides here, there is obviously a time when you have no choice. We get letters from our local council 's weed inspector if they see listed weeds on our property. (they do aerial surveys). The result is that we are forced to keep weeds in control. Unfortunately, a neighbour on one side is trying to have her property classified as "organic" , so she doesn't spray. Our prevailing wind is from that direction, so you guessed it, we get the seed from her serrated tussock, Hypericum, and a whole list of other weeds. It just means that we have to spray more often.
I remember many years ago a friend erecting her chicken pen around a clump of JKW - she said that after a few years of being eaten by the chickens, the JKW had given up and died - that was some 35+ years ago and they've moved on - I'd love to go back and see if it's reappeared - perhaps I'll drive past some time and crane my head over the hedgetops.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Here in The Netherlands there is an experiment with pigs eating JKW at the moment.
Problem is they prefer eating other plants, and only eat the knotweed if they can't find anything else.
Have heard one or two examples of pigs clearing up small areas quite effectively though.
