    Sword shape leaves make me think of a bulb or corm - like a mini gladioli.

     Well I'll be . . . . .  I thought I'd give it one more go with iPad this morning and it worked 1st time! Talk about tempremental!  Thanks for all your replies, by the way, this is brilliant forum - everyone so helpful. More problems to come in garden of 'new' house . . . . .

  • How beautiful - it looks a little like Agastache mexicana 'Sangria', Mexican Giant Hyssop, but I'm not sure that's it...or maybe a Lobelia puberula, Purple Dewdrop Lobelia, but the leaves don't match with that. Maybe if you take a look at these two they might lead you somewhere?
