Cactus
While we were away, my kindly neighbours unfortunately watered our cacti and now one which is 14 year sold is rotting from the base. Should I cut it and try and root the top part? Help! Thanks.

In my "House Plant Expert" book it says that most varieties of cacti will root from cuttings. It states that it is vital to let the cuttings dry for a few days and large cuttings for 1-2 weeks before inserting int peat based compost. (I know that using peat based compost is a no no now but thats what it says!) Apparently spring is the ideal time to do this. Good Luck
