Garden design

Hi All

Advice needed please. I've had my driveway relaid and created a border which I hope to fill with greenery of some description. I would like it to be low maintenance but with some colour. Can anyone suggest what plants/ shrubbery would be ideal for putting here and can I just fill it with soil? The sun falls on this area from the afternoon. Pictures below. Thank you.

Wow the new drive looks lovely and the flower bed can be fabulous.  I think I would go for block planting of purple and cream plants which would look lovely with the grey paving.  It is quite a big bed so will be expensive to fill with soil and then the amount of plants you would need.  Guess the choices would be governed by your budget and your patience to wait for new plants to grow.  I would go for grasses and cone flowers etc, prairie planting or lavenders and Mediterranean plants and gravel image

hope this gives you some ideas and look forward to updates image

Dig it over and get rid of all the rubble. Fill with good topsoil. I would go for hebes, a pieris and maybe a choisya or euonymus for splash of colour. All easy to grow and low maintenance. A couple of lavenders will pick up the colour from the hebes. Pehaps a winter box (sarcococca) for a bit of winter flower interest. All evergreen so it won't look bare in the winter.

Thank you all for your ideas. I will look at all your suggestions at the garden centre and hopefully get things growing soon. I will update once they start blooming. Thanks again.
