Hi all, can I add a question on a similar line? I was very interested to read about these bamboos looking dry and shrivelled over winter, as I was given a beautiful healthy one last year, in a pot, and while I was on holiday it blew over ( we are very exposed) and got very dried out. It has never fully recovered until I noticed a day or so ago, one or two new shoots at the base. Question is, should I thin out the huge mass of very dead looking old stems, or leave the whole lot?

    Hi Seonaid

I'd thin them out. Dead looking stems will stay dead looking even if they're not truly dead.

Might be an idea to start a new thread with this question. There's some pretty knowledgeable people who've already given their opinion and might not look in again.

I'm not a bamboo expert, only know what I do with mine.

Thanks nutcutlet, I was about to start a new thread just when I saw this one, but will do that anyway!
