clematis

hi can i move a clematis,it hasent flowered althou it has plenty of growtth,it is strangling,my rose.thanks

  • move it in winter, but they hate being moved. Dig wide and deep keeping as much root and soil, and plant into new hole much deeper than it was, into good compost. Water. Then cut back to about 12 inches above ground.

    You did not explain what type of Clematis, or how old, which could have an affect on new position and the above explanations.
  • not sure of the name,my grandaughter,went round the garden taking all my labels off.lol its new this spring,has not flowered yet.i could move the rose instead,if i had too.which one is best,to move i wonder,

     

  • Go ahead with the clem.as relatively new. After it's lost its leaves. Remember to plant it about 2 inches lower. Next year when watering feed with high potassium food ever fortnight.

    i had to move one while it was in flower and it was fine image
