Lily Bulbs

nitram78nitram78 Posts: 41
A lovely friend of mine sent me some Lily bulbs last year, which I planted and flowered wonderful (lovely smell).

The flowers themselves dropped a few weeks ago, leaving a long stem.

I am not sure if I should be cutting this stem back now?

Leave the stem, snap off the short pods where the flowers were.

As Dave says -  just leave the long stems carrying the foliage. This helps to feed the bulb just like narcissus etc. They'll die down over winter and you can lift the dead stalks then. The new stems will then emerge in spring and hopefully - more lovely lilies for summer  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
