hi I'm in lancs and my toms still green in greenhouse but had loads of chillies pick them when there green don't have to be red
EC, the warmer the weather, the quicker they will ripen. Optimum temps are low-20s and above. The lower the temps, the longer they will take.
Thanks both. That's reassuring. My tomatoes are outdoors so I guess I've just go to be patient!
If they do not ripen before the frost you can always pick them and put them next to a ripe banana but they taste better if you can be patient
my outdoor tomatoes are very slow to ripen this year and I am in Guernsey so pretty far south! Most things are a couple of weeks late
I'm in Lancs and started picking red tom's last week, yellow tom's this week. Still lot's of green one's on the plants though yet to ripen.
Chillies just starting to go red on one plant and lots of green sweet peppers on another.
What ever are left at the end of the season make lovely green tomato chutney.
