Orchid ID
in Plants
Hi all,
More of a houseplant question than a gardening question, but can anyone ID these orchids and give me some information about how to care for them. I have inherited them and am rather keen not to kill them!
Thanks

They are both varieties of Phalaenopsis, or Moth orchids.
I love the second one!
They are really strong plants and very easy to look after. They need light, but no direct sunlight and they like temperatures between 15 and 25 degrees centergrade.
Water once a week, but be careful not to water inside the heart of the plant, and don't leave any water standing in the pot, because they don't like wet feet.
You can feed them once a month or so with a special orchid feed, because most normal plant food is not suitable for orchids.
Don't cut the flower spike off after flowering, because often they produce more buds on the same stem.
I'm sure you'll have lots of pleasure from them!
Good morning Beginners Luck
No need to apologise!
With the heart I mean the bit in the very middle of the plant, where the leaves are joined together and where the new leaves will eventually come from.
Just make sure you don't pour water on top of that, or it may not drain away and the plant could possibly rot. Hasn't happened to me in 30 years though, so no need to panic.
Just remember that more plants die of too much water than of too little.
