Thank Verdun, mine is the washed out kind of blue very old about 19 years and i wanted to have some young ones in case it died. Do you put your cuttings in water or straight into compost?
Just whack in some semi-ripe cuttings abt 4" with the lower 3" stripped - I put them round the edge of a clay pot so just the top inch or so is above compost.Use very gritty compost and don't let it dry out, keep them bright but out of direct sunlight and in about 3 weeks you should see some signs of growth.
I've also got a really old rosemarianus washed-outus that I've kept going for many years by taking cuttings in pots dotted here and there

Hi, I have a. Rosemary plant, I cut off two cuttings cut diagonally at bottom, then shoved them in a small glass of water, (which is what I do with all my cuttings) and within a few days they had LOADS of roots growing - they are now growing nicely in small pots.

I think it is spring when it is growing fast and you stick them down the side of a pot containing well drained compost.
However, I need to rip my rosemary out so I am going to have a go now!
Thanks Steve

I've never had much success with rosemary cuttings but I've just grown a few nice little plants from seed.
Feeling quite proud of myself
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
They were surprisingly easy Verd! I bought the seed on a whim several years ago and never used it
Now have three little 'potted on' plants which will get potted on again when they're ready. Will probably keep them indoors till next spring.
