cut it back as low as you can, any new leaves that start appearing you can wipe with a paint brush covered in glyphosate or you could treat the stump with a specific stump killer
I think you will find that a brushwood killer such as SBK is more effective against the older saplings than glyphosate, which I would reserve for use on the seedlings.
If it's cut off at ground level (or ideally below) it's unlikely to regenerate, so you needn't mess about with poisons. In my experience anyway. If you can locate its mummy, probably in a neighbour's garden, and negotiate removal thereof, it'll save a lot of work in the long run.
It's not rude, Supernoodle: bloody sycamore is its official name amongst my garden friends and acquaintances anyway.
I had tree surgeons in to remove a small/medium sized one and despite them putting weedkiller on the stump them left, the damn thing still keeps on trying to grow. I have to regularly pull off new shoots!

you can buy it in a small spray bottle ready mixed, just spray on. It takes a while and it will probably need doing again.
there is (or was) stuff that could be injected into stumps. Root-out or Root-kill or something like that.
In the sticks near Peterborough
One
One sycamore seeding left to grow in neighbours garden - gulp, get rid now !!!!

My advice.....same as all the other forum members here - get rid of it by whatever means possible.
