Hi all my Daughter pickles 73 put a thread up about this nasty weed but I have a question also. once she starts with the roundup how soon and how close can she plant anything near the infected area.and how many times should she use the round up this year. thanks in advance. Tina

In theory you can replant as soon as the weed has died - gone brown and has been pulled up. Glyphosate based weedkillers don't persist in the soil.
However, as Japanese Knotweed is such a pernicious weed I wouldn't plant anything just yet as it may well reappear and need several applications to get rid of it totally. Repeat applications aren't a problem.
It would be a shame to spend money and time on planting something only to lose it because you have to treat the area with weedkiller again.
