These have been fabulous

But I don't know what they are or if I should deadhead them or just let them die back

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lychnis coronaria, I love those. They make lots of seed and spread but not difficult to pull out. Cut them back when you're not enjoying them any more. The base rosette will survive through winter but the top will die back

Lychnis coronaria or rose campion, very pretty. I let them self seed and die back naturally. They never fully die back in my garden, so I leave them alone apart from dead heading.

I have a white flowered version too and it's just as prolific a self seeder.  A friend tells me that if I plant them together I may get stripey babies.  I'll let you know next year.

There is also a form with white flowers, called Lychnis Coronaria Alba and there are even a few varieties with white petals and pale pink hearts.

    Gorgeous! image.

  • Will do Verdun, thanks!
