How to prune Magnolia?

We have a nice Magnolia bush, it is second year since we planted it and I think it needs some pruning. Earlier this year, around May, it lost almost all leaves and we thought it will die, but regular watering with ericaceus feed and nettle tea made it green and lush again. Its a small bush, only about 150 cm tall, but it need some shaping and I'm completely confused. Help please?
