    One minute I'll go and have a sniff, 

    No, maybe just a very faint smell like privet but nothing much, the bees don't go on it.

    Yes, very waxy and twiggy, I will have a sniff tonight but can't say I have ever noticed much smell to it. Thank you.

    It doesn't look quite like Google pics, they seem to have a trumpet shaped flower.heres some close ups to compare yours, if yours is in flower now.

    this one seem to flower for ages and the birds love it as it's very thick and protective in the winter.

     The flowers have stamens and other curly bits in the middle.
