fruit bushes
in Fruit & veg
I watched Monty pruning a gooseberry bush this week on Gardener's World - a sort of open bowl shape in the middle - does the same apply to black and red currant bushes?

It was red currents he was talking about!
you should also do it to gooseberry bushes to stop sawfly, they dont like the space or air that circulates if you do this,I have just done mine and it does help, having had a very bad bout of sawfly on them some two years ago.
Nightgarden, do it to all of them, as sawfly strike on any, but especially gooseberries, just be wary of all your other fruit bushes too.
Thanks for the help - when the snow has gone I'll get pruning.
