fungus on apple tree

iceice Posts: 332

I have a very old (uncared for) apple tree in my back garden.

We've only been here since Nov and its also full of mistletoe. Earlier in the year my partner chopped off a rotten branch. Where this joins the tree there's a fungus growing

What is the fungus?

Is there hope for this old tree if so what can I do to help it

I can't give you a name for the fungus but it's a sign that all is not well with the tree.

These fungi live on dead and dying wood. Therte's nothing you can do, the problem is inside the tree. Enjoy it while it's thereimage
