Need help with Kale problem

image

Can someone tell me what these are, please?

It's not a good photo but there are masses of black eggs laid in the joints of my cavolo nero plants.

I'll wait to hear - otherwise I guess I just wash them off.

Found them when I was picking of the caterpillars - think I'll be buying insect netting

Thanks in advance

hi yes i think you have caterpillars which need the finger treatment. i check all my brasicas weekly by hand and just nip any crawlies there and then bird food.  this time of year is where they are prolific so if you dont spend 15 minutes ever time you go up clearing out the bugs they will eat it before you. other than than make sure they are protected with fine nettings when planted out.

i have grown three kinds of kale and have never seen this much damage.  protect your plant and theywill reward you for a long time through the hunger gap

    hi all

I have a great crop of kale this year and the more you pull the better it comes to which i am using at home in dinners and drinks made with my bullet. Have to say that a fresh and healthy drink made very quickly from the garden pickings.

some pictures of kale i have growing now and as a tip grow it in staggered times s that i have kale to pick right up until April next year happy gardeningimage
