Do I cut back young wisteria?

Tiny01Tiny01 Posts: 72
As title really .. I've noticed in the " what to do now section " that I should be cutting back wispy shoots on wisteria , our plant is young planted only this year & is doing well with long shoots , overall it's about 2' tall now , do I still need to cut back the wispy shoots now or leave them ?

How do you want to grow it Tiny01?  If you want it to cover that area (is it a log cabin?), then you need to attach some wires to the wall using vine eyes.  Then train and tie those long shoots, one to each wire.  See here:

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Hi Bob .. Firstly thank you for your detailed reply , yes it is a log cabin I call it my man room where I escape to lol ! Yes ideally I'd like it to cover the cabin , I have another wisteria adjacent to the one in the picture on the other side of the door , I'll get some vine eyes & some wire & train those shoots as suggested in the links that you provided - thanks again
