In between raised beds

I have 9 raised veg beds and its very muddy in between them (ie where you walk). The wife wants me to put down something in between so its cleaner/easier for moving about.

 

What would you suggest?

    Gravel paths.

    Depends on your budget.   Chipped bark, slate chippings or gravel laid on a weed suppressing membrane.  If you can get some on freecycle, old slabs would be good too.

    Some old carpet laid upside down. Last quite a few years and should be able to get it for nothing. Not the foam backed stuff though..
