Best time to move Helianthus 'Lemon Queen'?

Hello! I am very much a novice gardener and planted Lemon Queen when it was tiny without realising just how big it would grow! It is now huge! Way too big for where I planted it so would like to know when is the best time to move it without killing it?

    over Winter whilst it's dormant.

You could move it now, but make sure it's well watered the day before, and you get a huge rootball out, maybe cut some of the top growth off too so it doesn't dry out too much, but really best left until winter.

  • Okay, thanks. Am not desperate to move it so will wait until winter.

    Thanks for your help! ????

I have moved mine successfully in late autumn - once it's finished flowering - and also in spring when the first shoots start to poke through.    It's a fabulous plant but yes, very tall and mine have spread with enthusiasm so I have quite a bit now and have given some to friends with big gardens.

  • Thanks for your response Obelixx, my garden isn't that big and the border I've put it in is tiny so it definitely needs a new home!
