Louise Row - Clematis

Has anyone ever grown the above Clematis ?? Are the flowers really as pale as they look in pictures. Also I have a rather large old Clematis growing on the side of my house I have no clue what type it is, its now got shoots bursting out when should I prune it ? Its looking thin near the bottom fat round its centre and sent up some more thin shoots that are taller than me and Im 6'1 ft.
