cucumber

I have now picked 2 cucumbers from my plant in the greenhouse but they were both not crunchy as they should be. Can someone tell me why please?

    Are they the lovely dark green colour or yellowy? Did you try and taste it? Did it seem slightly bitter? I think the above indicates left on the plant a bit too long?

    They were not yellow and they were not bitter.

    Did the plants need watering?

    I love this forum! Where else could you ask a question like "Why is my cucumber soft and spongy"  without risking a ribald reply?
