Pruning privet

Pixie5Pixie5 Posts: 2

I planted a new privet hedge in March. The plants were less than a foot tall but now end of July they have more than doubled in size.  I have just discovered that I should have cut them back to a third of their size soon after planting. Is it too late to do that now? Or should I just give them a light trim? I would be very grateful for any advice!

I agree, cut it back in the late autumn image

Thank you so much. So do you think I should cut them back to a third end of October?
