She is Dave, but I definitely agree that the sycamore should go. Both my neighbours have them at the bottom of the garden and I seem to get all the leaves in mine. They both have tar spot and look pretty ugly.
Your garden is looking great for all the hard work you've put in.
i haven't done anything special to the lawn so can't really take all of the credit. Maybe just good soil and quality turf, although they happened to be the cheapest but from a proper turf supplier (£3.50 per metre and free delivery). I just made sure that it was well watered.
Hi Dave a warm welcome from me, I too don't think that I will be of much help to you as I'm still wearing gardening 'L' plates..........but then again I might surprise myself and provide a useful gem of advice to someone ( miracles do happen..don't they?)
Welcome Dave, you're going to love the forum. Your garden looks fantastic - well done. Agree with Dove though about the sycamore, an acer would look great but could be expensive if you're on a budget? Good luck tomorrow and try not to buy anything on your first day!!
Hi Dave, I don't think acers prefer a particular soil (ie. acid or alkali) although neutral to acid would be good. If you dig in some compost and make sure the area is free draining. I think it's the strong winds or harsh sun they don't like (it can scorch the leaves). But up in that corner it would probably be quite well protected from the winds at least. Good luck.

Thanks Lesley. I'll keep a watch out for her in future????
I've no experience with trees but I think I'll get rid and pop a lovely acer in its place
Hi Dave, pleased to meet you
Garden looks lovely. Love the pathway, good idea re sunken firepit.
It's looking lovely Dave, an Acer would be nice.
have a scout round for shade loving climbers, that will break the fence up a bit (not literally)
i hope the lawn keeps as beautiful as that in the shade, it looks almost unreal, such as lovely deep green.
Thanks Lyn.

The sycamore is no more! I'll have a think about an acer but I'm not sure if it will like the soil?
I have new socks tomorrow, plus new trainers and a desire to buy a new pair of secateur. Working is going to be expensive!
