advice

I moved a mature vanilla last year due to building work.it seemed to take ok with new buds and leaf growth.the leaves have now all turned brown and died, buds never flowered and have fallen off.on inspection scraping bark back the main plant still seems to be alive, should I cut back now as leaves are bad looking or should I give up on a lost cause

Hi paddy - if you moved it as a mature plant it will have struggled a bit. It would have been a good idea to prune it before moving it. The buds need loads of moisture in late summer as that's when they form. As it's still showing some life, I'd prune it back and just make sure it gets plenty of water in the coming weeks so  that it's in good health for next spring. A liquid foliar feed will give it a boost and mulch well after watering to keep that moisture in  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
