Bugs on bonsai

Hi all, I have some sort of little flies crawling all over the soil at the base of my Chinese Elm bonsai tree and I don't know what they are. Someone suggested white wine vinegar in a jar but this hadn't attracted them at all. I'm stuck, please help.

  • If they are little black flies its sounds like scarifly, caused by the soil staying wet and poor drainage in the pot. If this is the case repot and improve drainage and fresh compost.
