spider MIte

I have an attack of spider mite on my cucumbers, They are currently 4-5 foot tall and every leaf is affected.

I have sprayed with a bug spray and am misting as often as possible but am i wasting my time?

Can they be saved? Its quite a heavy infestation.

My tomatoes seem to be unaffected.

Try SB plant invigorator which sort of sticks them in place so they eventually die.  It also contains a foliar feed to help the plants grow.  The only thing I've found truly effective are spider mite predators (Phytoseilus.)  The suppliers of those often also recommend SB as an initial treatment before applying the predator mites.

Spider mites have evolved to be immune to most insecticides.

Spraying with water certainly helps prevent them getiing hold but once you have a heavy infestation I'm afraid to say that it is not very effective as it doesn't actually kill them.
