Well, just to update this, they never did flower! Lots of leaves but not a single flower. I have left them in the ground over winter. Just about to mulch the bed that they are in, so they would be a bit deeper, but wondering if I should lift them now to replant later or leave them in the hope they might flower this time round? I even contacted the company that produced the bulbs and got no response!
That's the way of it with gladioli, probably been eaten by now, no point in lifting now, see if they come up thus year. Did you plant them on a thick bed of sand.

A very late update on this, several of them have flowered beautifully this year I just left them to it! Beautiful colours especially one that is a rich purple.

I didn't Lyn, I didn't know I should have done. Is it best to dig/ dry and replant them each year?
