my strawberries are poor this year, not many and what there are aren' t very impressive or tasty, think variety splendid? In large pots, have kept on top of watering, fed a little
My pot grown plants produced a couple of mean little fruits but the ones on the allotment were fabulous even though they haven't had much water. I shan't bother growing them in pots again.
How old are your plants in the pots, rosemummy? I try (not very well) to grow mine in a three year cycle. After around three years, my plants are too old and tend to offer small dried up fruits rather than big and juicy fruits produced by the younger plants.
Their 2nd year should have been their most productive year rosemummy. I wonder if they needed more feeding? They are greedy plants and quickly exhaust multi-purpose compost. If in large pots, try a mix of 50 per cent bagged farmyard manure and 50 percent JI No 3. Works great for me.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
