Camelia - why are buds only on lower branches

  • Hi. Camelias must have lots of water when they are forming their flower buds for the next spring and those in pots risk being too dry. The main time to keep watered is the late summer/autumn. 

  • Hi i know,normally keep them in a shallow dish in summer,there are plenty of buds on the lower growing branches but not on a few of the longer growths.I have had some good advice so i'l keep you all informed thanks again.
  • I also find that they are more likely to have buds on one year old wood and older.
