Not too concerned about whether anyone agrees with me or not about Monty's greenhouse (never been a sheep).....but let's be clear, it could be described as a cathedral rather than a common or garden greenhouse. This at a time when the BBC is making cuts of around £700 million to the annual budget, including cutting radio stations & much of its website including message boards.
This indulgence is hard to understand in a climate when thousands of people are depending on food banks to eat & thousands can't afford to heat their homes.
See what you mean, David. However, the sad fact is that there has always been money to spend on entertainment and the media, because there's a lot of money to be made from it. Witness the level of pay involved if you are an entertainer or a footballer.
Are we 100% sure that it was the BBC or in fact US that payed for Monty's cathedral of a greenhouse..? As its in his garden it may well have been payed for by Monty.

Yes, it is (and always has been) an unfair world, GG....this could be widened to include starving children in parts of Africa & beyond, but there would be little point.
It was noticeable (to me anyway) what a dump Monty's garden was at the start of filming from Longacres.....large parts neglected and TBH, I would have been ashamed of it, had it been mine.

That's the irritating point, we don't (or will never know) but I think it unlikely that Mr D has financed it out of the goodness of his heart to enhance the program.
You don't have to agree with people to respect them - everyone is entitled to their own opinions - we don't have to join gangs - I may agree with you on one subject and disagree with you on another - but I respect your right to disagree with me too.
Hopefully your friends are also entitled to their own opinions without jeopardising your respect.
Let's all be friends.

See it now....what a contrast!

Does he get a flat fee out of which he supplies what is deemed necessary for the programme, or is he paid an hourly rate plus expenses?
Who paid for the additional land and the setting up of all those little gardens that Geoff Hamilton had?
Who paid for the improvements that Mr Titchmarsh and his Ground Force team wreaked on unsuspecting members of the public?
Perhaps Monty should've bought one of these instead http://www.primrose.co.uk/-p-49696.html?adtype=pla&kwd=&gclid=CIPek8arlbYCFW_KtAodZBQAmA ?
And then how much would we have been able to see as the camera man tried to stick his lens through a vent?
For heavens sake, TV programmes cost money to make

Well said, Dove!
Didn't expect that, Ma.....always thought I had your respect!

Respect as in, not normally being given to passing opinions without consideration & some knowledge of what I'm talking about.
'Let'sall be friends', that expression seems to have been slightly overcooked here recently.
Anyway...my final word on the subject.
