snail and slugs

is it true that kitty litter can stop slugs and snails eating your plants and will it harm the plant, I keep picking them off plants and placing them in the bin , but I stil keep finding more followring day

    Haven't heard that one but would be wary of trying it in case it encouraged even more cats to poo on my garden image

    I find that that slugs and snails like to sit on a trowel and be launched high in to the air onto a car park

    I'm actually developing quite a good right arm. Perhaps I could join a local cricket team image

    Seriously annmarie - handpicking is the best way of getting rid of them. If you can do it regularly - in spring especially, you make a big dent on the population - just when plants are starting into growth and are vulnerable to munching molluscs. image

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

     yes I think you may be right picking them up is the only way , but it amazing how quick they appear, when you think you've seen the last of them, their back again you see them swim I chucked some in the pond the other day for the frog they looked like they were on race track boy they could move

  • I use slug beer traps and these are fairly effective.  Can I put the beer plus dead slugs into my compost bin?
