Sage gone wild

Sage gone wild

I have a sage plant that seems to be taking over my border, How can I freeze sage? How to I keep my sage under control?

Any herb can be frozen in an ice cube. Sage parsley etc

I think sage is better dried, used for sage and onion stuffing.

Prune it, after it flowers, its what I do every year

    Yes, sage dries very well.

It does get very leggy, but pruning should help keep it manageable. You could try taking cuttings to produce a new bush, which could replace the old one in a couple of years.

This year I cut back one section of my sage bush straight after flowering, and the rest some time later. The first section has rewarded me (and the bees) with another crop of flowers, so I will try to remember to trim the whole bush as early as possible next year.

Sage grows very quickly. If yours is unattractive or inconvenient, replace it with a youngun and keep it trimmed

I  cut mine back to about 8" in the spring, it soon regrows and at the moment is occupying an area of about a 3ft x 3ft.

Jo47, I didn't cut it terribly far back to get the second flowering, I think I just cut off the flowering stems.
